Somewhere over the ocean they're closing the doors
Welcome aboard, and the cabin goes quiet
Still too early to leave for the airport
And nothing in this room will sit still
Wonder what's playing in your headphones tonight
Maybe that song of mine you keep
Or the one you handed me years ago
The one about being no good at saying sorry
Snow on the road, snow on the SkyTrain line
何も 止められない
Come on home
Out of all that distance and the years alone
Come on home
Every mile between us turning into snow
Told myself I wouldn't cry
無理やなあ
Your boots are in the back seat waiting for the cold
Come on home
Six hours out, and it's already dark
Every clock in this house is a liar
Nothing to do but drive it again in my mind
Then the board says you've landed
And there's no time at all
待っとったんは
僕のほうやと思っとった
But every mile of it, you were coming toward me
Every single day, you were coming home
And there you are
Walking out of all that light
After all this time, you still find me in a crowd
Sit down here, give me your foot
Let me put these on you now
Then we walk out into the snow
We're finally home
おかえり
Welcome home
Champagne before we've even left the ground
Took a while to get used to that
Twenty years of the back of the plane
And now the window's mine for eleven hours
Tokyo goes small and then it's gone
Just the lights along the bay
Somebody dims the cabin one row at a time
Nobody here knows where I'm going
Shoes off, blanket, seat laid flat
Nothing to do now but arrive
Eleven hours, and I'm not counting one
Funny how the waiting stopped
somewhere over the sea
All those years of missing you
turned into something else
Something that just sits here quiet with me
Eleven hours, and I'm already home
Playing that song of his on the headphones
Then the one I gave him years ago
Strange how a man can say in three minutes
What took us both this long to know
The map says we're past the halfway line
Nothing to do now but arrive
Eleven hours, and I'm not counting one
Funny how the waiting stopped
somewhere over the sea
All those years of missing you
turned into something else
Something that just sits here quiet with me
Eleven hours, and I'm already home
Used to dream about the running
About the falling into arms
But I think it's going to be quieter than that
I think we'll just stand there
And that'll be the whole thing
The window's going white beneath the wing
Snow down there, they said it never comes
Packed the wrong shoes, he'll laugh at me
He always does
Belt sign on, and the cabin starts to stir
Eleven hours, and I'm already home
Eleven hours, and I'm already home
See you in a minute

Chrysalis Under Oak ── Metamorphosis
愛と巣立ちの4部作組曲 · 2026-09-18
[The Father's Shade]
An ancient oak beneath the grey
Has kept the bitter wind away
His branches wide, his roots so deep
A silent shadow where we sleep
[The Restless Child]
And in his boughs, a restless child
Whose eyes look to the distant wild
The nest is cold, the ground is old
I fly away before I'm told
[The Tension]
The father tree says, "Do not go"
He holds the branch to keep me low
Is it love, or is it fear?
The shadow grows too heavy here
[Metamorphosis Climax]
When does the chrysalis break into light?
When do the silent wings learn their first flight?
You cannot tear the shell from outside
Or the spirit of the sky has died
Tear the dark, let the old world fall
Metamorphosis... answer the call
(Metamorphosis)
(Answer the call)
[The Mother's Flight]
I will not weep, I will not plead
To keep my child from what they need
A crawling life upon the vine
Could never share their blue design
[Liberation & Ascent]
Father, your roots gave me my breath
Holding your shade too long is death
I break the wood, I leave the cage
To turn the leaf, to turn the page
So I can meet my young bird in the air
Look, your mother is flying there
[Soaring Catharsis]
When does the chrysalis break into light?
Now in the glory of the highest flight
No longer a shadow upon the floor
We are the sky forevermore
Step by step through the gentle wind
Where the butterfly begins
(Metamorphosis)
(Answer the call)
[Outro]
The oak is smiling in the rain
Never the old shop again
Fly, my love, we fly...
September rain upon the glass,
Another summer starts to pass.
The morning fog begins to clear,
A quiet voice I long to hear.
On the ninth of September,
Underneath the amber sky.
There are words we still remember,
Even as the days go by.
Walking down the empty street,
Where the shadows softly meet.
Paper cranes that learn to fly,
Reaching out towards the sky.
Through the silence and the chill,
Time is standing almost still.
Hold the flame against the cold,
Stories waiting to be told.
On the ninth of September,
Underneath the amber sky.
There are words we still remember,
Even as the days go by.
Every moment that we knew,
Fading into shades of blue.
Though the seasons turn away,
In my heart you'll always stay.
Paper cranes across the dawn,
Long after the summer's gone.
Morning mist along the green,
The quiet road that we have seen.
Through the cold and sudden rain,
Walking past the silent pain.
Shadows falling on the grass,
Moments fleeting as they pass.
Golden light begins to fade,
For every memory we made.
One last look into your eyes
Before the crimson fire dies
Under the quiet amber moon,
The night will take the sun too soon.
A fleeting spark across the sky,
We never said our last goodbye.
Hold on to the afterglow
Where the gentle breezes blow.
Even when the shadows fall,
I will still recall it all.
Under the quiet amber moon
Recall it all
Running through the misty morning,
Footsteps on the Stanley Park.
Pacific breeze is softly calling,
Chasing shadows in the dark.
Chase the angel, hear her song,
Where the ocean meets the sky.
We have waited for so long,
Watching paper cranes go by.
Vancouver streets of glass and stone,
A marathon of hope and tears.
We never had to run alone,
Across the memories and years.
Chase the angel through the rain,
Rising up above the pain.
Fly with me towards the light,
Into the Canadian night.
